Who can use the service?

Free triage establishes suitability; it does not guarantee assessment or diagnosis.

  • Adults may seek their own assessment. A parent or person with parental responsibility may seek assessment for a child or young person. Professionals need the relevant permission and authority.
  • Concerns about attention, activity or impulsivity and their effect on everyday functioning are considered alongside history and alternative explanations.
  • Confidential video assessment needs suitable technology and privacy, or reasonable adjustments that make the format workable.
  • Relevant consent or authority is needed. Developmental, educational or other information may be sought where clinically appropriate. Missing old records alone does not exclude a referral.
  • A clinician reviews whether virtual assessment is safe and appropriate. Urgent or more complex needs may require another service; coexisting conditions do not automatically exclude someone.

Looking at the whole picture

An assessment considers your experiences over time, your development and the effect on everyday life. It also considers other explanations and conditions that may occur alongside ADHD. A questionnaire score alone does not establish a diagnosis.

What information can help?

You do not need to gather or send anything through this website. Missing historical records would need a clinical discussion, rather than automatically ruling you out.

  • Your experiences in different settings, such as home, work or education.
  • Relevant history and records, if available.
  • Information from someone who knows you, with appropriate permission.

An assessment by secure video

BrightMind offers ADHD assessment by secure video only.

Suitability for remote assessment, accessibility needs and geographic eligibility must be confirmed before a referral is accepted. A video assessment should not continue if privacy or safety cannot be maintained.

An honest outcome

The outcome may be ADHD diagnosed, criteria not met, or a decision deferred for more evidence. The report explains the findings and recommendations. There is no guarantee of diagnosis.
