The assessment pathway

  1. Understand the pathway

Read about the assessment and what to expect.

  2. Review suitability

Triage is free. A clinician reviews suitability; signposting to another service carries no assessment fee. An accepted referral receives an offer, provisional slot and invoice before payment.

  3. Prepare information

Questionnaires and relevant information from you and, with appropriate permission, other people help build a fuller picture.

  4. Meet by video

The assessment considers your experiences, development and everyday life, alongside other possible explanations.

  5. Review the outcome

ADHD may be diagnosed, criteria may not be met, or a decision may need more evidence. A diagnosis is never guaranteed.

  6. Receive a report

The report explains the findings, any limitations and recommendations. Timing will be confirmed before an assessment is agreed.

At your pace, with clear expectations

BrightMind contacts the referrer for triage or next steps within 48 hours of a submitted referral. Saving a draft does not start this clock.

The target is an actual assessment appointment in under 48 hours once triage and required assessment information are complete and payment is confirmed.

A suitable provisional slot is offered before payment. If the target cannot be met, the actual next available date is shown before payment so you can decide whether to proceed. A provisional slot is not a confirmed booking.

Appointment length and report turnaround must be explained before you agree to an assessment. A clinician may need more information or a further review before reaching an outcome.

Assessment has a defined scope

BrightMind offers ADHD assessment by secure video only.

An enquiry or initial suitability review is not a diagnosis.
