Consent and authority come first

School and workplace referrers use this professional route with the relevant person’s permission and authority; there is no unrestricted separate route.

A referral must establish who is referring, the appropriate permission or authority to share information, and the person’s involvement. For young people, consent and confidentiality require age-sensitive clinical consideration.
